Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist writer, journalist, and photographer who has reported on areas of war for over 45 years. Her work focuses on human suffering and disasters. Curry has written about the conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19th, 1956 in Agana American journalist and TV anchor and news reporter who was best known for her work as a correspondent on the Today show, a news morning program aired on the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was renowned for the reporting she did on natural catastrophes and war broken nations. Curry's Japanese-American mother as well as her U.S. Navy-sailor dad played prominent roles in her life. Her parents met while her father was stationed in Japan following World War II. Because of her father's work as a military officer, they moved a lot. The family eventually arrived in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. In 1978 she graduated in 1978 from her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. In her youth she had the privilege of being exposed to many different cultures. They moved frequently, so Curry was not confined to one place for more than two years traveling to various places like San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. Ashland was her last high school. In Medford where she began her broadcasting career with KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. When she was 22 she was the station's first female reporter. Later, she became an anchor/reporter at KGW located in Portland Oregon. Four years later she moved into Los Angeles and became a reporter for KCBS TV. Two Emmy Awards were won during the six years she worked for TV station KCBS.
